Evidence that I'm Not a Sports Fan

Friend:  "Hey, are you watching the game tomorrow?"
Solitary Diner:  "Nah.  I'm not that into hockey."

(Friend looks at me like I've just grown an extra head.)

Presuming by your English, you're Canadian so why would you be interested in a US sporting event?

I'm not that interested. Two east coast teams from big metropolises seeing who can chest thump better - I'll pass.

A lot like the World Series between the Red Sox and the Yanks; or the Celtics against the Knicks...

who cares. :D

I'm from the East Coast and I STILL don't care about the Superbowl this year. Or any year. Superbowl parties can be fun though, as long as there are other people there like me who aren't taking it too seriously.

I always view pro sporting events with a lot of cynicism even though I admire the fact that they are talented athletes. I always think of all the BETTER things their salaries could have gone towards - schools, cancer research, etcetc.

For me, the Super Bowl is WAY overrated - so don't feel bad! I agree with Mingle - those people get paid too much to do what they do, and make school-aged kids think that they can all become pro players and make the big bucks. Reality is very different than that.

Love it! I would have said the same thing as you if I didn't have an American husband who is a sports nut!

I'll do your ignorance one better - it would never occur to me that Canadians would care about the Superbowl. (and for the record I had to ask my mom this morning who was playing)

C - Sadly, I worked on Sunday so I couldn't even enjoy the junk food.

Rick and Mingle - Lol.

AD2B - A lot of people around me, despite being Canadians, are very into the Superbowl. Not sure why. I've never watched, and the only thing I've ever enjoyed about it was watching the commercials on YouTube.

OMDG - Glad I'm not the only person who doesn't care!

Mingle - I don't have a huge problem with athletes making big money through private industry, but what annoys me to no end is government funding professional sports (which happens all too often in Canada). That money could definitely be better used elsewhere!

Dr. G. - Are you telling me that my hope of becoming a professional quarterback after I finish my career as a doctor is unrealistic?

Missmccracken - Thanks!

Cartoon - Indeed, I used to be more clued in to sports when I was dating a sports fan. Now I happily don't care.

Red - There's a surprising number of Canadians who watch the Superbowl. No idea why...but I've never really understood the appeal of sports in general.

Larissa - Thanks.
